Ilya Solovyov signs with Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames announced Tuesday the signing of former Spirit defenseman Ilya Solovyov to a three-year entry-level contract.
The Mogilev, Bealrus native skated for the Spirit during the 2019-20 season after being selected by Saginaw in the first round, 53rd overall in the 2019 CHL Import Draft. The six-foot-three, 210-pound rearguard scored seven goals and 33 assists for 40 points, which was second among Spirit defenseman behind Philadelphia Flyers prospect Mason Millman.
Calgary selected Solovyov in the seventh round, 205th overall, in the 2020 NHL Draft.
Solovyov, 20, played the 2020-21 season with Dinamo Minsk in the KHL scoring two goals and seven assists for nine points in 41 games.
