NEWS: Mintyukov, Sapovaliv ‘Players to Watch’ for 2022 NHL Draft
Saginaw, MI – Saginaw Spirit defenseman Pavel Mintyukov and forward Matyas Sapovaliv are featured on the Players to Watch list released Tuesday by NHL Central Scouting ahead of the 2022 NHL Draft.

The list rates draft-eligible players from North America and Europe on a three-tier scale: ‘A’ indicates a potential first round selection, ‘B’ indicates a potential second or third round selection, and ‘C’ indicates a potential fourth, fifth, or sixth round selection. It will be updated throughout the season as NHL scouting staff evaluates players.
Both Mintuykov and Sapovaliv are listed as ‘B’ prospects.
Mintyukov, 17, was selected by the Spirit in the first round, 52nd overall, in the 2020 CHL Import Draft, while Sapovaliv, 17, was selected by Saginaw in the first round, 15th overall, a year later.
Both players made their debut with the Spirit this past weekend, with Sapovaliv recording his first OHL point on Sunday, Oct. 17 against Erie.
