Spirit Primed for Exciting Ninth Season with Great Regular Season Schedule
The Saginaw Spirit in conjunction with the Ontario Hockey League and it’s member teams are proud to release its game schedule for the 2010-2011 regular season. The Spirit play 68 games per year, 34 at its home arena at The Dow Event Center of Saginaw.
The Spirit opens the season on the road with back-to-back away games against the Kitchener Rangers on Friday, September 24 and the Erie Otters on Saturday, September 25.
The Saginaw Spirit Home Opening Celebration – presented by your local Meijer Stores with support from Better Made, Nabisco and Pepsi – will start with the team’s first home game on Thursday, September 30 against the Sudbury Wolves and Saturday, October 2 against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. Both games start at 7:11 PM.
Saginaw Spirit President and Partner Craig Goslin feels that the team’s schedule is one of the best in its nine year history. “Our goal of game day schedule management is two-fold. First, we want to keep our three games in three night scenarios to a minimum and second, we want to get as many Friday and Saturday home nights as possible. We were able to keep our three in three’s down to only five times and we were able to secure 15 Saturday’s and 8 Friday night games. Our players and fans should love this schedule.”
A full promotional schedule will be released later this summer but several big nights are already on tap for next season.
On Saturday, October 9 the team will partner with the St. Mary’s of Michigan Seton Cancer Institute for the fourth annual PINK OUT Breast Cancer Awareness game. The Spirit have raised over $30,000 for the fight against Breast Cancer since the events inception three seasons ago.

The Spirit will cap off the event with a match-up against the Memorial Cup Champion Windsor Spitfires at 7:11 PM.
Fans will get to throw teddy bears onto the ice during the team’s Saturday, December 4 home game for the annual Meijer Teddy Bear Toss. The proceeds from the popular charity event go to benefit local charities and community organizations.
Following the holiday season the Spirit and the MCVI Foundation will host the annual Shocks and Saves Charity Game, which features local doctors and paramedics hitting the ice for charity alongside hockey celebrities to help raise money for the healthy heart cause. The Shocks and Saves game is scheduled for Saturday, January 29.
