The Petes Conclude Their Season This Sunday
The Peterborough Petes will conclude their 68-game season on Easter Sunday against the Kingston Frontenacs for the 12th meeting between these division opponents.
What started out as a series controlled by Kingston has turned into a back and forth affair between the OHL’s rising clubs. Since turning the calendar to 2022, the Maroon and White have taken two of four contests. Peterborough lost by one goal after scoring late in the third during the last meeting. The teams have alternated wins so we should be in for a good one on Sunday afternoon.
The Petes are coming off wins that displayed their commanding offensive abilities. Nine different Petes comprised of Emmett Sproule, J.R. Avon, Konnor Smith, Quinton Pagé, Tucker Robertson, Chase Stillman, Jax Dubois, Joe Carroll, and Sam Alfano found the back of the net at least once. Jonathan Melee, Donovan McCoy, James Guo, Nick Lardis, and Justin DeZoete inked their names in the assist column. The Petes outshot Kingston 38-27 at home on March 3. Peterborough will look to do so once again, but convert more often to pull out a victory.
In addition, the OHL named Michael Simpson the OHL Goaltender of the Week. The London native went 3-0 and posted a 1.32 GAA and .954 save percentage. He blanked the Barrie Colts in Barrie on Apr. 5, stopping 37 shots for the Petes to claim a 1-0 victory. Meanwhile, breakout star Robertson is one goal shy of 40 on the season.
