Petes Select Adrian Klein in the 2021 CHL Import Draft
With the 45th selection in the 2021 CHL Import Draft on Wednesday, June 30, the Peterborough Petes selected defenceman Adrian Klein.
Klein, a 6’2”, 194 lbs defenceman suited up for the Straubing Tigers of the DEL League for the 2020-21 season. The 2003-born Neustadt an der Waldnaab, German native recorded one goal in 31 games.
Klein represented Germany at the 2021 U18 World Junior Championship, picking up an assist in four games, as alternate captain. At the 2021 U18 International Junior Tournament, Klein tallied two assists in six games. Klein also represented Germany in the U16 and U17 tournaments, suiting up in 19 games.
“His primary focus right now is earning a full time roster spot with the Straubing Tigers in the DEL League,” said General Manager Michael Oke. “He’s very appreciative of us selecting him knowing we provide an excellent option for his career if it doesn’t go to plan with the Tigers.”
The Petes held one selection in this year’s CHL Import Draft after receiving a commitment from last year’s import selection, Brian Zanetti.
The Petes will kick off their 65th season on Thursday, October 7 on the road against the North Bay Battalion. The Petes welcome the Sudbury Wolves during their home opener on Thursday, October 14 at 7:05 pm.
