Petes Fall Short in Gritty Matchup Against the Kingston Frontenacs
The Petes travelled east for their fourth matchup of the season against the Kingston Frontenacs at the Leon’s Centre tonight.
Last game the Petes outplayed Kingston early in the game, outshooting them 15-10 and outscoring them 3-1. Emmett Sproule, the OHL’s leading point streak player, generated a goal and two assists, including a primary assist on Nick Lardis’ third period goal with 18 seconds remaining to force overtime.
Although the Frontenacs controlled much of the play at the top of the first period, a cross checking penalty from Shane Wright at 13:38 was able to swing the momentum in the direction of the Petes mighty quickly as JR Avon converted a point shot from Brian Zanetti into a goal for the maroon and white by way of deflection.

Unfortunately the lead lasted for a condensed period of time as Wright responded by putting one past Simpson at 15:19 while on the power play.
The opening frame would end tied at 1-1.
The second period felt a little bit like deja vu. Three minutes into the players return to the ice, the Front’s Jackson Stewart was sent to the sin bin, for holding. Much like the first, the Petes were able to take advantage of the early power play, when rookie Nick Lardis tucked the puck behind Leevi Merilainen.

The early lead once again lasted for a short period of time as Jordan Frasca’s shot connected with the twine at at 6:02 to tie up the game. Frasca would double down on his goal scoring at 15:20 when he snuck a penalty kill break away past Simmer. The second period would see the Front outshoot the Petes 12-8.
The third period was marked by some speed and gritty play by both squads. At 13:18 the Liftlock lads tied up the game, when a beautiful odd-man rush by Emmett Sproule, Jax Dubois and JR Avon saw the Petes 3rd goal of the night.
Unfortunately the Frontenacs responded five minutes later with an exciting goal from Francesco Arcuri and an insurance goal into the empty net by Maddox Callens.
The Petes take on the Ottawa 67’s this Sunday, November 21 at 2:00pm. Petes Fans can tune into the game on Freq 90.5 or catch it
