IceDogs Improve to 5-1 on The Season Beating The Battalion
NIAGARA, ON – The Niagara IceDogs rebounded from their first defeat of the season with a 7-5 win over the North Bay Battalion.
Niagara opened leads of 2-1 after one period of play, and 5-3 after 40 minutes.
Alex Assadourian and Andrei Loshko both had two goals and one assist apiece for the IceDogs who improved to (5-1) on the season.
Assadourian was plus-4 on the night.
“It was a great team response,” explained Niagara Head Coach Ben Boudreau. “Collectively we found a way to get it done.
Alex (Assadourian) was great defensively, he was plus-4 and played the right way. It was an unreal commitment from our group.
This is unfamiliar territory in the standings, and learning how to play with a lead is something we’re getting used to.”
Matthew Virgilio scored his first in an IceDogs uniform, Ivan Galiyanov tallied his first goal of the season, while Max Crete also found the back of the net for Niagara.
Charlie Robertson made 43 saves, against his former team, to pick up the win.
The IceDogs host the Ottawa 67’s Thursday night.
Tickets are available through the Niagara IceDogs or Meridian Centre Box Office.
