Sting 2 @ Hounds 4
For the first time since early October, the Soo Greyhounds swept a homestand – this time by defeating the Sarnia Sting.
r
rIn their 4th meeting in as many weeks, the Greyhounds used 4 goals in the third period to down their division opponents by a score of 4 to 2.
r
rAfter a scoreless opening two periods, Soo forward Brett Thompson opened up the scoring 4:40 into the third period. While the Hounds were shorthanded, Thompson worked a give and go with Carson Dubchak resulting in the Greyhound forwards 3rd shothhanded goal of the season.
r
r
Sarnia would respond at the 11:28 mark after some miscommunication behind the Hounds net resulted in a gift to Kale Kerbashian and his 10th goal of the season before the Sting made it 2-1 vistiors after JC Campagna notched his 4th of the year.
rThe lead would last only 37 seconds, as Nick Cousins worked hard around the goal to put the Hounds back on even terms with his 6th of the rookie campaign.
r
rTeam captain Jake Muzzin would get credited with the game winner on the night as his left point shot went off the stick of Kerbashian and in behind Adam Courchaine, who was named the games 2nd star.
rBrett Thompson, with his 2nd of the night and 19th of the season would round out the scoring into the empty net.
r
rHounds outshot Sarnia 41-26 and with the win improved to 19-13-1-2 heading into their final two games before Christmas.
