Rangers shootdown Hounds

The Soo Greyhounds had proven to be a tough team to beat in overtime.
In reight overtime games going into tonight's contest, the Hounds had come away rvictorious seven times.
But the Kitchener Rangers held the Soo off the rscoreboard in the extra period before scoring on their first two shots in the rshootout to claim a 3-2 victory over the Hounds on Saturday night in front of r4,540 at the Essar Centre.
The Greyhounds complete their three-game rhomestand on Sunday as the Guelph Storm visit for a 7:05 p.m. rstart.
Former Hound Chris MacKinnon came back to haunt the team he rstarted his Ontario Hockey League career with by scoring once in regulation time rand potting the shootout winner for the Rangers.
The story line for the rGreyhounds was a 35-save performance by Bryce O'Hagan and a two-point night from roverage forward Matt Caria.
Anthony Peluso's power play goal in the rsecond period put the Hounds ahead 1-0. MacKinnon and Steve Lock would reply to rput Kitchener ahead 2-1 after two periods. Caria then jammed the puck past Josh rUnice on a wrap around in the third period to send the game into rovertime.
Jordan Nolan and Caria were stopped by Unice in the shootout rwhile MacKinnon and Michael Catenacci scored for Kitchener.
Greyhound rrookie Carson Dubchak recorded his first OHL point with an assist on Caria's rtying goal.
Kitchener outshot the Hounds 38-23.
Local product rMickey Sartoretto also made his first appearance in the Sault as a rookie member rof the Rangers but the North Stars grad played sparingly on the team's fourth rline.r
