Lawrence wins a Silver Medal with the Under-18 Junior Team
Phil Kessel scored two goals and added two assists to pace the United States to a 5-1 win over Canada in the gold medal game at the World Under-18 Championships in the Czech Republic on Sunday.
Kessel opened the scoring 6:33 into the game and rounded out the scoring summary in the final minute. He also picked up an assist on Jason Lawrence's game-winning goal in the first period.
“They were the better team today,” said Canadian coach Shawn Camp of the Sarnia Sting. “Kessel was dominant and their goaltending was incredible. We were good in the first half but then our players looked tired. Maybe the (semi-final) game against Czech Republic took too much steam out of us.”
In six games he played in the tournament, Lawrence scored a goal, had four penalty minutes and plus one rating.
The Soo Greyhounds would like to congratulate Team Canada and Chris Lawrence for winning the silver medal at the World Under 18s.
