Colts 2 @ Hounds 5

The Soo Greyhounds took, and seized an opportunity on Friday evening to move up the Western Conference standings.
Opening a 2-game homestand against the Barrie Colts, the locals skated through a tied 1st and 2nd period before coming to life.
With the score 1-1 ,the Greyhounds took their second lead of the game just 21 seconds into the third period. A innocent-looking dump in by Vern Cooper went off the end boards and banked off Colt netminder Clint Windsor for a 2-1 Greyhound lead.
Brett Thompson notched his 17th of the year at the 2:54 mark working hard in the offensive zone and eventually successfully putting a wrap-around in for the 3-1 lead.
Make it 4-1 Greyhounds when Daniel Catenacci grabbed his 17th of the year putting a high wrister to the blocker side of the Barrie goal. That goal kept an 7-game goal streak alive for the Hounds forward who has scored 8 times in the last 7 games.
Barrie would make it a 4-2 game at the 17:59 mark and would later call a timeout and pull their goalie to try and inch closer to the Hounds but Brett Thompson with his 2nd of the night, into the empty net would seal the Hounds 5-2 victory.
The Hounds outshot the Colts 34-27 in the game, and 19-4 in the third period.
With the victory the Greyhounds improve to 11-13-4-0, good for 26 points and 9th position in the OHL’s Western Conference.
Brett Thompson, Vern Cooper and Carson Dubchak all ended the game +4, while Cooper (1st star), Thompson (2nd star) and Chris Perugini (3rd star) were named the Red Star Three Stars of the game.
Next action for the Hounds is Sunday evening when the Greyhounds play host to the Owen Sound Attack. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and seats, including tickets, are still available.
