With the third overall pick in the 2023 OHL Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore, the Soo Greyhounds are proud and excited to announce the selection of BRADY MARTIN from the Waterloo Wolves U16AAA (Alliance U16).
“It’s an absolute pleasure to welcome Brady and his family to the Greyhounds organization. He’s the total package; possessing elite skill and is always a threat to create scoring opportunities for teammates and shooting lanes” started General Manager Kyle Raftis.
The 6.0, 176 centreman joins the Program after he was Captain of the Wolves this past season (2022-23) where he recorded 27 goals and 29 assists (56 points) in 23 regular season games played.
He later added 12 goals and 17 assists (29 points) in 11 post-season contests.
A native of Elmira, ON, Martin and the Wolves advanced to the semi-finals of the OHL Cup earlier this month where his 8 goals and 4 assists were good for 12 points in 6 games played.
He capped off the tournament finishing third in tournament scoring before being named one of six players on the event’s all-star team.
“His competitiveness and tenacity are rare to find at this level and he’s consistently shown that he can tilt the ice in his team’s favour on the biggest stages” continued Raftis.
He then added, “When you account for his work ethic, approach, and his overall competitiveness, it’s easy to see why he has all of the tools to become an elite player in the OHL.”
Earlier this year Brady won a gold medal with Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games with 6 goals and 2 assists.
Martin becomes one of the highest drafted players in Waterloo Minor Hockey history.
This mark’s the 6th time in franchise history the Hounds have selected in the 3rd overall position.
Martin follows in the footsteps of Darnell Nurse (2011), Jeff Carter (2001), Wayne Gretzky (1977), Craig Hartsburg (1975) and Tony Cumomo (1974) selected in the #3 slot.

SCOUTING REPORT (from the OHL Priority Selection Media Guide)
Brady is a complete elite center that can play the game any way you want him to. He is a very strong skater with good separation speed. He has elite puck skills and offensive creativity that he uses to make everyone on the ice around him better. He is both a playmaker and goal-scorer and is always dangerous when he has the puck on his stick. He is a fierce competitor that will do anything it takes to score a goal or win a game; he is physical when he needs to be and does not lose many puck battles.
