Senyshyn commits to Hounds
The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club is pleased to announce that ZACHARY SENYSHYN has committed to the Program.
“We are very proud to announce that Zachary Senyshyn and his family have committed to the Soo Greyhounds. Zachary had plenty of options with regards to interest from top NCAA Schools and his commitment to our Program today is another solid indication of the strength of the Soo Greyhounds both in terms of academic and athletic development” began Hounds General Manager Kyle Dubas.
“Zachary has developed extremely well under the watchful eye of the Smiths Falls Bears since being drafted by our club last April. We would like to thank Hugh Craig, Mark Grady and the entire Bears staff for their work with Zachary to date and their understanding in allowing him to join our Club over the next few weeks. We would also like to recognize the work of Gregg Kennedy and his staff with the Ottawa Jr. Senators AAA program, where Zachary played during his OHL Priority Selection Season. ”
Originally selected in the 3rd Round of the 2013 OHL Priority Selection by the Hounds, Senyshyn has appeared in 33 games for the Smith Falls Bears (CJHL) this year notching 12 goals and 5 assists. Senyshyn’s 12 goals have him tied with Neil Doef (Mississauga Steelheads draft choice) and Matthew Foget for the most amongst 16 year old players in the CCHL. He was recalled by the Hounds yesterday to accompany the team on their final roadtrip before the holidays.
The Nepean, ON product was one of 68-players named to the 2013 Under-17 Provincial Camp in Oshawa, ON in August, while he was also a member of the championship winning Team ODHA Maroon at the OHL U16 Cup in May.
“Committing to the Greyhounds is a huge honor, they have welcomed me to the team and treated me great during my trips with them and during my time in Ottawa with Smiths Falls. Coming to the Greyhounds and playing in the OHL has always been a dream of mine. I’m very excited for my future with this terrific organization” said Senyshyn.
Zachary becomes the 4th player from the 2013 draft class to commit to the Program joining Blake Speers, Colton White and Michael Bunting.
“Zachary will add an excellent mixture of goal scoring ability and elite speed to our lineup, and we look forward in maximizing his development over his time with our Program” concluded Dubas.
