Roberts and Trott commit to StFX
ANTIGONISH, NS – StFX men’s hockey head coach Brad Peddle is pleased to announce the addition of OHL forwards Connor Roberts (Owen Sound, Ont.) and Zack Trott (Honeywood, Ont.) to the 2021-22 roster.
Roberts is a 6’4″, 215 pound forward who played with the Flint Firebirds of the OHL. Coach Peddle notes that he is a “big power forward with a good skill set who can skate and shoot the puck very well and will give us more size and skill down the middle.”
“He was very high OHL pick who is coming off a very strong year on a very good Flint team. Connor comes highly recommended from previous coaches, and we look forward to him seeing him in blue and white in the fall.”
Originally the third overall pick of the 2016 OHL Priority Selection, Roberts recorded 100 points (47-53–100) over four OHL seasons between Flint and Hamilton, putting up 43 points (18-25–43) in 2019-20.
Trott is a 5’10”, 185 pound forward who skated with the OHL’s Soo Greyhounds. “Zack is a highly skilled forward with a great hockey sense who will make an offensive impact to our team immediately,” says Peddle. “He is a high character individual who was referred to by previous coaches as the ‘engine’ of his team.”
“Zack is coming off an outstanding last year of junior year where he finished in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies and will be a tremendous addition to our program.”
A former 14th round OHL Priority Selection choice, Trott led the Greyhounds in scoring with 66 points (25-41–66) in 2019-20, wrapping up a three-year OHL tenure in Sault Ste. Marie with 106 points (40-66–106) over 168 games.
Roberts and Trott were teammates growing up with the Grey-Bruce Highlanders AAA program.
