Q&A with Ethan Montroy
Earlier this month, the Ontario Hockey League conducted both their Priority Selection and U18 Priority Selection.
Through those two processes, the Soo Greyhounds welcomed eighteen (18) players to the Program.

Being drafted into the OHL, winning Bell Capital Cup and being named captain in major bantam and winning league championship same year (2019/2020)
What is your main motivation on the ice?
Always give 100% no matter what the situation and be a great teammate.

What challenges did you overcome to get where you are now in hockey?
There were many highs and many lows but I just had to push through them to become the player I am today.
What do you know about the Soo Greyhounds or the City of Sault Ste Marie?
It’s a great hockey town and they have great fans. It’s a border town on the river, just like where I come from.
Words of advice for a player aspiring to be drafted/play in the OHL?
Just keep giving 100%, keep practicing and doing the best you can.

I love playing Lacrosse and have won a couple Provincial Championships.
What was the best vacation you ever took and why?
Went to Dominican Republic with my grandparents and cousins. First time on a plane. Great memories of my grandfather who passed away a couple of years ago.

Over the last 15 months during Covid, what has helped you stay focused. What have you spent most of your time doing?
During Covid I tried to stay focused as my goal was to get drafted. I was lucky to still be able to get some scrimmage games and practices in and just took advantage of that time. Did work outs at home and shot pucks outside.
