Predators make Martin 1st Round Selection
It didn’t take long at the 2025 NHL Draft from the Peacock Centre in Los Angeles, CA for Greyhounds’ foward Brady Martin’s name to be called.
Hearing the announcement surrounded by family and friends at his family-farm in Elora ON, Martin was selected 5th overall by the Nashville Predators.
Martin is coming off his second season with the Greyhounds after being selected in the 1st Round 2023 by the red-and-white.
In 109 career games played, the 6.00, 174 lb centreman has averaged just under a point-per-game thanks to his 43 goals and 57 assists (100 points).
This past season the Hounds Assistant Captain registered 33 goals and 39 assists (72 points) good for 2nd overall in team scoring.
2024-25 was a banner season for the 2nd-year OHLer whom recorded his 1st-career hat trick, had a career-best 5 point night, OHL Cogeco Player of the Week (Mar. 3) while later was named the Hounds Co-Recipient of the regular season MVP and was voted Western Conference “Hardest Worker’ in 2024-25 Coaches Poll.
Additionally he represented the CHL in CHL/USA Prospects Challenge.
Internationally he was a member of the gold medal winning Team Canada at the 2025 World U18 Hockey Championship in Frisco/Allen, TX this past Spring.
In 7 games played he tallied 3 goals and 8 assists including 2G in the gold medal victory over Sweden.
Martin was then named to the Media All-Star team following the tournament.
Martin becomes the 19th player in Greyhounds history selected in the 1st Round of the NHL Draft – and first since Barrett Hayton (5th overall to Arizona) and Rasmus Sandin (29th overall to Toronto) who were selected in the opening round of 2018.
The first Greyhound ever selected in the 1st Round was Jack Valiqueete (1974 to Toronto).
