Greyhounds’ Owen Allard signs with Utah
The Utah Hockey Club announced Friday that it has signed Soo Greyhounds overage forward Owen Allard to a three-year entry-level NHL contract.
Utah selected Allard in the fifth round (135th overall) in the 2024 NHL Draft. The 6-foot-2, 200Ib. forward produced 44 points (18-26–44) over 55 regular season games last season, and also represented Canada at the 2024 World Juniors.
Allard, from Ottawa, Ont., was originally Sault Ste. Marie’s seventh round (124th overall) pick in the 2020 OHL Priority Selection. An injury wiped out most of his 2022-23 season but he’s progressively become a more integral part of the Hounds’ forward ranks, producing 77 points (36-41–77) over 137 career regular season games.
Allard produced a goal and an assist in his season debut on Wednesday as the Hounds beat the Saginaw Spirit 5-3.
