Annual Red & White Game now set for Fri. Sept 2nd
With Soo Greyhounds training camp set to open a week from today, the club today released its schedule of events for the camp. One change from previous plans includes moving the annual Red & White game from Sunday September 4th at 7:00 P.M. to Friday September 2nd at 7:30 P.M.
The Hounds have made the change as a result of recent information obtained regarding the opening of NHL training camps. With most NHL camps opening on Sunday September 4th the club would lose some of its core players to the NHL camp, and the competitiveness of the Red & White game would suffer as result. Due to the nature of the current NHL off-season the Hounds were only able to confirm the beginning of NHL camps this week, and as a result could only make the change to the Red& White game this afternoon.
The winner of the annual Red & White game receives the Kameda Cup, in memory of Vic Kameda. The trophy is donated by the Soo Greyhounds Scouting Staff. The Red & White game is always the most prestigious event during training camp and the Hounds want the highest level of competition to be presented to their fans for this game.
Fans who have already picked up their season tickets can use the ticket for Red & White game to gain entrance to the event, even though the date on the ticket read September 4th, it will still be honored at the gate. Fans are reminded that season tickets can now be picked up at the Gardens Box Office. Fans wishing to attend to the Red & White game who are not season ticket holders can purchase tickets at the Memorial Gardens Box Office. All other on-ice sessions, excluding the Red & White game, are open to the public, and a ticket is not needed.
