2015-16 Team Award Winners Announced

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club held their 2016 Awards Banquet earlier this evening at Grand Gardens here in Sault Ste. Marie, ON.

Team representatives joined players, billets, families, friends and special guests in awarding eleven individual team awards along with a volunteer recognition award to a long-serving member of the organization.

To conclude the night Hounds’ recognized goaltender Brandon Halverson and overage players Gabe Guertler and Tyler Hore with a special video tribute.
(NOTE – Fans attending Sunday’s game vs Guelph, are asked to be in their seats at 1:45 p.m. for the special pre-game ceremony for these three players)

•  DR. BILL KELLY AWARD for the Most Gentlemanly Player

BLAKE SPEERS

•  MIKE DESJARDINS MEMORIAL TROPHY for Best Defenseman

COLTON WHITE

•  SCHOLASTIC PLAYER OF THE YEAR

JACK KOPACKA

•  RED STAR THREE STAR AWARD
given annually to the player with the highest number of 3 stars and 3 star aggregate point totals

ZACH SENYSHYN

•  SAULT STAR TROPHY for Unsung Hero

GABE GUERTLER

•  HUMANITARIAN AWARD for outstanding contribution in the community

BOBBY MACINTYRE AND ZACH SENYSHYN

•  PINO’S AWARD for the Most Improved Player

CONOR TIMMINS

•  PETE TAYLOR MEMORIAL TROPHY awarded to the Player’s Player as voted on by the player’s

BOBBY MACINTYRE AND MAC HOLLOWELL

•  ROCK 101 TROPHY for MVP of the Regular Season

BLAKE SPEERS AND ZACH SENYSHYN

•  TOP SCORER AWARD;  TBD
