JAN MYSAK NAMED TO THIRD WORLD JUNIORS
The Czech Ice Hockey Association has for the third time named Hamilton Bulldogs forward, and Montreal Canadiens draft selection, Jan Mysak to the Czech Republic team for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships.
Leading the Hamilton Bulldogs in goal scoring with 17, and 31 total points, in 25 games, Mysak heads to the World Juniors on a roll where it is expected he will captain his nation for the second time, after doing so in the 2021 tournament.
Playing at the tournament for the first time as a 17-year-old in the 2020 edition, Mysak turned heads using his tremendous hockey sense and game breaking abilities on a Czech team ravaged by injury in front of a home crowd (a team that included former Bulldogs forward Jan Jenik). Mysak managed a goal and an assist across his 5 games the first time around.
In 2021, Mysak was named captain of his nation in his second time at the tournament, leading a younger version of the Czech squad. Again, Mysak’s skill was on full display with 3 points in 5 games, finishing 2nd on his team and proving a true leader in helping his teammates rise to the test.
In the 2022 tournament, Mysak will lead a deep Czech roster with 9 total NHL draft selections that should make some noise and has the opportunity to challenge for a medal.
The Czech Republic will open their tournament on Boxing Day against Team Canada.
The Hamilton Bulldogs are incredibly proud of what Jan has and continues to accomplish, we look forward to a great tournament and having Jan return after once again leading his national team with pride!
