BULLDOGS START WEEKEND WITH 4-2 LOSS IN LONDON
They may have been separated by 26-points in the standings, but the Hamilton Bulldogs gave the Western Conference leading Knights all they could handle Friday night in London as the hometown team escaped with a 4-2 win.
After a scoreless 1st period, the Bulldogs got on the scoreboard first as Logan Morrison (12) tapped one home on the power play at 8:20 of the 2nd period. The Knights offense then came alive with two goals less than two minute apart to take a 2-1 lead.
London took a 3-1 lead less than six minutes into the 3rd period with Isaac Nurse (13) getting rewarded for going to the net as the Knights lead was cut to 3-2. With Bulldogs goalie Zachary Roy on the bench late, the Knights got a break as Hamilton’s Jan Jenik lost control of the puck in front of the empty net as it just crossed the goal line to give London the 4-2 insurance goal.
London out-shot Hamilton 40-23.
With the loss, Hamilton’s season record falls to 27-27-3-2 while London’s improves to 40-11-6-1.
London goal scorers were Adam Boqvist (17), Connor McMichael (34), Billy Moskal (12), and Kevin Hancock (47).
