BULLDOGS GET OUT OF PETERBOROUGH WITH 4-3 WIN
The Hamilton Bulldogs avoided back-to-back losses with a 4-3 win in Peterborough Thursday night.
The Bulldogs took the play to the Petes early on, but weren’t able to get on the scoreboard. With a preview of things to come, Peterborough got its first chance on the power-play and made no mistake as the home team led 1-0 after the opening twenty minutes.
Power-plays were big in the 2nd period as Hamilton scored twice with the man advantage thanks to goals from Will Bitten (18) and Arthur Kaliyev (22). Sandwiched in between was another power-play goal by the Petes as the two teams went to the dressing room tied 2-2.
The Bulldogs seemed to get their legs in the 3rd period and it led to back-to-back goals 69-seconds apart by Isaac Nurse (11) and Mackenzie Entwistle (8) as the Black and Gold took a 4-2 lead. Things did get interesting after Hamilton’s Robert Thomas was handed a 5-minute major penalty for slashing. The Petes managed to score their third power-play goal of the game to cut the lead to 4-3, but Bulldogs goalie Kaden Fulcher shut the door the rest of the way.
Hamilton out shot Peterborough 37-27.
Petes goal scorers were Logan DeNoble (21), Pavel Gogolev (19) and Semyon Der-Arguchintsev (8)
