BULLDOGS CAN’T FIGHT BACK FROM 1ST PERIOD DEFICIT AGAINST SAGINAW
The Bulldogs couldn’t survive a 5-3 deficit after the opening 20-minutes as they lost 6-3 to the Saginaw Spirit Saturday night at FirstOntario Centre.
The eight goals scored in the 1st period came in just over a span of 12-minutes that saw Jan Jenik (9, 10) and Eric Henderson (13) score for Hamilton. It wasn’t a good night for the starting goalies as Saginaw’s Tristan Lennox was pulled after allowing three goals on six shots while the Bulldogs Nick Donofrio saw his night come to an end after facing nine shots and allowing four goals against.
The goal scoring dried up after the goalie changes as Hamilton’s Zachary Roy stopped 14 of the 15 shots he faced the rest of the way while Saginaw’s Ivan Prosvetov was a perfect 21 for 21 in the save department. The Spirit got an empty net goal late to make the final 6-3.
Hamilton out-shot Saginaw 27-25.
Saginaw scorers were Jake Goldowski (11), Nicholas Porco (19), Cole Perfetti (28, 29), Bode Wilde (16), and Owen Tippett (30).
3 STARS:
