BULLDOGS ADD ALEX SOTEK IN CHL IMPORT DRAFT
HAMILTON, ONTARIO. The Hamilton Bulldogs, coming off the franchise’s second OHL Championship added to their championship core on Friday, selecting Slovakian left wing Alex Sotek with the 58th overall pick in the 2022 CHL Import Draft.
Sotek, a product of Poprad, Slovakia, joins the 2022 Ontario Hockey League Champions with a championship resume of his own. The 2004-born winger struck gold at the 2022 World Junior (D1A) Hockey Championship as well as a silver medal at the 2021 Hlinka-Gretzky Tournament. After beginning the season in the Slovakian U20 ranks split between HK Poprad, HC Slovan Bratislava & Team Slovakia (made up of U18 players), where Sotek recorded 31 points in 17 games, he moved onto the professional ranks. Suiting up with 3 teams over the season in the Slovakia 2nd league, Sotek moved up again with HK Poprad of the Slovakian Extraliga before moving to the legendary Slovan Bratislava team where he skated in 32 regular season games and 9 playoff games en route to winning the 2022 Slovakian Extraliga Championship.
The Hamilton Bulldogs have seen great contributions from Import players through team history, with Marian Studenic playing a big part in the 2018 OHL Championship, Jan Jenik having a brilliant run of play and Jan Mysak & Artem Grushnikov being key parts of the 2022 OHL Championship team. The Bulldogs look forward to adding Alex Sotek to that rich history and welcoming him to Hamilton and the Ontario Hockey League.
