14 PLAYERS ADDED TO THE BULLDOGS FAMILY DURING THE 2019 OHL PRIORITY SELECTION PRESENTED BY REAL CANADIAN SUPERSTORE
The Hamilton Bulldogs were eager to continue a string of strong draft years by doing the same on Saturday during the 2019 OHL Priority Selection.
The Bulldogs used their 1st round pick to select Ryan Winterton of the Whitby Wildcats Minor Midgets 8th overall.
Winterton, a 6’0, 160 lb, centre put up 72 points (38 goals, 34 assists) in 36 games this past season.
Ryan is described as a complete player who has the ability to do a little bit of everything for his team. What sets him apart from other players are his skill set and hockey IQ. He has the ability to set up plays at an elite level, utilizing his speed and skill. Winterton is known for a powerful stride with the ability to reach top speed quickly. He’s a strong competitor who plays well in all three zones and wins the majority of his puck battles.
With their 2nd round pick, Hamilton took Lawson Sherk (40th overall) from the Halton Hills Hurricanes Minor Midgets. Sherk, a 6’0, 175lb centre had 51 points (16 goals, 35 assists) in 32 games this past season.
Sherk is described as a leader who makes everyone around him better. He doesn’t take any short cuts in any of the three zones and is hard to handle in open ice. He’s a two-way centre with a powerful and long stride. Lawson has a heavy shot that consistently finds the back of the net. He’s good in one-on-one situations and sees the ice well.
In Round 3, the Bulldogs selected Chandler Romeo (49th overall) from the Toronto Red Wings Minor Midgets. Romeo, a 6’4, 173lb defenseman put up 27 points (5 goals, 22 assists) in 71 games this past season. At the 2019 OHL Cup, Romeo had 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) helping his team to the finals of the OHL Cup.
With their first of two picks in the 4th round, Hamilton took Kaleb Nelson (69th overall) from the York-Simcoe Express Minor Midgets. Nelson, a 5’8, 145lb right wing had 54 points (30 goals, 24 assists) in 31 games this past season.
With their second pick of the 4th round, the Bulldogs selected Owen Simpson (73rd overall) from the Toronto Red Wings Minor Midgets. Simpson, a 6’1, 153lb defenseman had 43 points (3 goals, 40 assists) in 72 games this past season.
Hamilton had no picks in Round 5 but used their first of two picks in the 6th Round to take Matteo Drobac (110th overall) from the Halton Hills Hurricanes Minor Midgets. Drobac, a 6’0, 179lb goaltender had a 1.38 GAA and a .944 SV% at the 2019 OHL Cup.
With their second pick of the 6th Round, the Bulldogs selected Connor Pelc (111th overall) from the Buffalo Jr. Sabres 15’s. Pelc, a 6’0, 194lb centre put up 15 points (4 goals, 11 assists) in 20 games this past season.
In Round 7, Hamilton took Owen Wilson (130th overall) from the Oakvillle Rangers Minor Midgets. Wilson, a 6’2, 190 lb defenseman had 15 points (3 goals, 12 assists) in 32 games this past season.
With their 8th Round pick, the Bulldogs selected Ryan Humphrey (150th overall) from the Detroit Honey Baked U16. Humphrey, a 5’8, 159lb left winger put up 12 points (2 goals, 10 assists) in 19 games this past season.
In Round 9, Hamilton chose Raymond Hamlin (170th overall) from the Windsor Jr. Spitfires Minor Midgets. Hamlin, a 5’10, 173lb centre put up 37 points (15 goals, 22 assists) in 27 games this past season.
Hamilton had no picks in the 10th round but used the 210th overall pick in the 11th round to take Dylan Richardson from the Guelph Gryphons Minor Midgets. Richardson, a 6’5, 190lb left winger had 35 points (11 goal, 24 assists) in 30 games this past season.
In the 12th round, Hamilton selected Finnegan Kilbride (230th overall) from the Detroit Honey Baked 15’s. Kilbride, a 5’10, 155lb defenseman had 17 points (9 goals, 8 assists) in 19 games this past season.
With their 13th round pick, the Bulldogs selected Jacob Bramwell (250th overall) from the Hamilton Huskies Minor Midgets. Bramwell, a 5’11, 156lb defenseman put up 17 points (4 goals, 13 assists) in 33 games this past season.
With their 14th and final pick, Hamilton selected William German (270th overall) in the 14th round from the London Jr. Knights Minor Midgets. German, a 6’0, 181lb left winger had 29 points (6 goals, 23 assists) in 30 games this past season.
The class of Bulldogs 2019 Rookies will hit the ice in the Bulldogs Rookie Evaluation Camp next weekend at Morgan Firestone Arena in Ancaster.
