– Tough to beat: In 29 seasons with the 67’s, Brian Kilrea has only had five losing seasons. He became the winningest coach in junior hockey history with his 742nd win on January 17, 1997.
– NHL record: Kilrea has the distinction of scoring the first-ever goal for the expansion Los Angeles Kings in 1967-68. He played 25 games for the Kings that season, scoring three goals and five assists with 12 penalty minutes. He played one other NHL game, with the Detroit Red Wings in 1957-58.
– NHL coaching record: Kilrea spent two seasons as an assistant coach with the New York Islanders (1984-85 and 1985-86).
– Championships: Won the Memorial Cup twice with the 67’s (1984 and 1999).
– Fame: Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in the Builders category in 2003.
– Awards: Won the Matt Leyden Trophy as Ontario Hockey League coach of the year five times (1980-81, 1981-82, 1995-96, 1996-97 and 2002-03); honoured with the Bill Long Award in 1994 for distinguished service to the OHL; won the Canadian Hockey League coach of the year award in 1996-97.
