Oshawa strikes first in home-and-home with 67’s
The Oshawa Generals were too much for the Ottawa 67’s to handle on Wednesday night inside The Arena at TD Place, skating away with a 8-1 win.
The Generals hit the scoresheet a pair of times in the opening frame, both in odd fashion. First, after Collin MacKenzie made a brilliant save, Ethan Martin kicked the rebound to himself, and slid the puck under the sprawled netminder, opening the scoring over 15 minutes in.
Then, three minutes later, Owen Griffin cleaned up a loose puck at the side of the net, contorting his body to fetch a rebound caused by a strange bounce off a 67 in front of the net. Suddenly, two weird goals put the Gens up by a pair.
In the second, Oshawa widened the gap with three more markers. Brooks Rogowski, Ethan Toms and Luke Torrance gave the visitors a five-goal cushion heading into the locker room.
The trend continued in the third, with Andrew Gibson and Martin running the score up to 7-0, but the Barber Poles got on the board midway through the frame, as Matthew Mayich wired home a one-timer.
The Gennies chipped another goal home to restore their seven-goal lead.
