Generals sweep home-and-home series against 67’s
The high-octane Oshawa Generals were too much for the Ottawa 67’s to handle on Sunday night, as they handed the Barber Poles a 6-2 loss, taking both games in their home-and-home series.
Unlike their previous meeting, the Gennies found a way to separate themselves in the first period, scoring a trio of unanswered goals in the first 15 minutes, courtesy of Ethan Martin – his first as a General – Luca D’Amato, and Lauri Sinivuori.
In response to some of the depth scoring for Oshawa, the 67’s got a goal from a regular source near the end of the frame, as Will Gerrior tapped home a power play marker, cutting the lead down to two.
The second went off largely without any offence, but Cal Ritchie scored his 10th of the year with four minutes to go in the period, putting his side back out in front by three as the Zamboni took to the ice.
Three minutes into the third, Jack Dever fought off a defender to earn himself a breakaway, which he made good on. Shifting the puck to his forehand, he flicked it underneath the crossbar to cut the lead to two.
Oshawa responded in spades, however, as Colby Barlow potted a pair of goals in under two minutes, to secure the 6-2 win for the home side.
