GAME PREVIEW: 67’s eyeing first place as they take on Generals
OTTAWA, ON – The Ottawa 67’s (37-10-1-2) are setting their sights on a chance to reclaim the top spot in the OHL as they welcome the Oshawa Generals (12-35-2-1) to TD Place on Wednesday at 7 p.m, for their annual Talk Today game presented by Canadian Mental Health Association. Fans can also tune in to the game on Rogers TV Channel 22, via Flo Hockey, or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.
The game is the Ottawa 67’s Athlete Mental Health Awareness game in partnership with CMHA Ottawa. Fans will have the opportunity to learn more about mental health and CMHA’s community-based services, as well as the in-game feature and photo opportunity.
Cooper Foster enters the game leading the 67’s in points with 52, just one away from matching the career high he set last season. Additionally, Ottawa’s lineup will feature a couple of newer names in forward Reid Hayes and defenseman Theo Avila. Hayes, 16, has primarily played with the Leamington Flyers of the OJHL, where he’s netted 18 points over 42 games. Hayes has dressed in two games with the 67’s; this will be his home ice debut. Avila, 18, has notched 18 points through 41 games with the CCHL’s Renfrew Wolves. While this is Avila’s season debut, he dressed in 10 games with the Barber Poles last season, with his last game being on March 10th, 2025.
The Generals’ offence is built around forward Owen Griffin, who leads the team in points with 48 and goals with 21. Supporting him are 2026 NHL draft-eligible Brooks Rogowski and Harrison Franssen. On the blueline, Lucas Moore is the team’s main quarterback, leading the defence in points with 21 on the year.
The 67’s have beaten the Generals across all five of their matchups this season. However, there hasn’t been a game where the Barber Poles have run away with the win.
Capital connections:
The Oshawa Generals roster has plenty of players from the National Capital Region, including Ben Cormier (Ottawa), Luke Posthumus (Nepean), Brady Blaseg (Kanata), and Jaden Cholette (Gloucester).
Additionally, the Generals’ lineup also boasts former 67’s forward Charlie Hilton.
