A bear’s journey: 67’s Teddy Bear Toss
It’s a big day for Brickley Bear on Sunday, December 8th, when the Ottawa 67’s host the Barrie Colts inside The Arena at TD Place.
In their team meetings, they have been going over the game plan for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Brickley Bear will start their day by heading to a booth on the concourse, where they’ll eagerly await being purchased by fans for $20. Proceeds from every purchase will go to the Children’s Miracle Network.
Additionally, each purchase gets you one entry into a raffle to give away a brand-new television.
Once in the hands of a fan, Brickley Bear will set into their action plan: sit close by, watch the game, and be ready for that big moment. They’ve been practicing for this, watching past Teddy Bear Toss games to learn the ropes, even gathering to hear a speech from Mini Max, who clung to the mesh after being thrown last season, and became a superstar.
Brickley Bear dreams of being just like the thousands of alumni before them, making some young kids very happy during the holidays.
But first, there’s one big adventure they have to take.
While Brickley Bear sits patiently, they wait for the loud buzz of the goal horn, which puts the plan into action. The horn blows, and quickly, Brickley Bear is scooped out of their seat, and thrown into the air. They know impact with the ice is soon to come, but this is the happiest moment of their life so far.
Smiling wide, Brickley Bear lays on the ice. It’s cold, but their time in the cold tub has prepared them for this moment. It’s temporary, and they’ll soon be picked up and placed into containers with help from the 67’s players, who are wearing special jerseys to celebrate the occasion.
All packed up, Brickley Bear waits to be delivered to CTV’s Toy Mountain, where they’ll be united with their new forever home, in the arms of a loving child.
Together, they’ll form unbreakable bonds, and a friendship that will last forever.
Brickley Bear isn’t too sure who is going to send them flying this year. In the past, their friends have been thrown for Logan Couture in 2008, Tyler Toffoli in 2009, Shane Prince in 2011, Tye Felhaber in 2018, and Luca Pinelli in 2023.
They are a little too busy with training right now to decide, but you can have your say here. Pick the right scorer, and you’ll be eligible to win a great prize.
Purchase your Brickley Bear on-site to throw onto the ice after the first goal, with both the proceeds and teddy bears going to help youth in need in our community.
