67’s host Memorial Cup host Saginaw Friday night
The Ottawa 67’s were a different team, last weekend, following the OHL trade deadline. The Barber Poles picked up a pair of wins in Brantford, and Owen Sound, respectively, before giving the league-leading Kitchener Rangers everything they could handle.
It’ll be another tough test tonight, with the Saginaw Spirit – hosts of the 2024 Memorial Cup – in town for a tilt with the 67’s. Puck drop is slated for 7:00pm, and fans can watch live on NHL Network, locally on Rogers TV, or hear Kenny Walls call the action on TSN 1200.
It was a valiant effort for the 67’s on Sunday, who outshot the host Rangers, but lost 4-2 on an empty net goal. Brady Stonehouse, and Sam Mayer had the markers, with Collin MacKenzie turning in another stellar performance.
Saginaw also played on home ice Sunday, beating up on the Guelph Storm to the tune of a 5-2 score. Zayne Parekh scored a pair of goals, Owen Beck tallied a goal and two assists, with Rodwin Dionicio, and Hunter Haight finishing off the scoring.
Ottawa swept both games against the Spirit, last season.
