67’s host annual Teddy Bear Toss Sunday afternoon
It’s a “beary” special game day for the Ottawa 67’s (10-10-2-4), who take on the Barrie Colts (19-8-0-0) in their annual Teddy Bear Toss on Sunday afternoon inside The Arena at TD Place. Puck drop is at 2 p.m. and great tickets are still available here.
You can see the game on both Rogers TV and CHLTV, or hear Kenny Walls’ call on 580 CFRA.
Please be aware, pre-paid parking for this game is sold out. Learn more about alternative modes of transportation, and everything else about your afternoon at TD Place by clicking this link.
On the strength of Luca Pinelli’s third hat trick of the season, the Barber Poles enjoyed a 6-1 victory over the Sarnia Sting on Friday night. Will Gerrior, Zach Houben, and Kohyn Eshkawkogan also scored, and Jaeden Nelson was strong in the Ottawa goal, stopping 36 shots.
Since the return of the Teddy Bear Toss after COVID-19, the event has been run twice. Last season, Pinelli sent the bears flying for Ottawa, and in 2022, it was Brad Gardiner, who suits up for Barrie this afternoon.
The Colts have already won their two other games this weekend, knocking off the Flint Firebirds at home on Thursday night, and beating the Kingston Frontenacs on the road on Friday.
Beau Jelsma scored twice in Friday’s contest, and Riley Patterson picked up a pair of points.
The Barber Poles and Colts met once already this season, in a game in which Barrie crashed Brian Kilrea’s 90th birthday party, winning 5-3.

Keys to the game
- Bear bite
You always want to be the one who scored the first goal, but the 67’s can’t get caught up in the moment. Just play hockey, the rest will happen naturally.
- Stay loose
When those bears do come down, there will be a delay. The 67’s need to treat it as a little intermission, and come out blazing after.
- Have fun
Games like this are ones you’ll remember for the rest of your life, so have fun with it.
