67’s earn point in loss to Bulldogs
The Ottawa 67’s long road trip is officially over, after they fell 4-3 in overtime to the Brantford Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.
A little under midway into the opening frame, Tomáš Hamara slid a pass into the middle of the far circle to Patrick Thomas, who ripped a shot past Jaeden Nelson, scoring his 200th OHL point, and giving the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead they maintained through the intermission.
That scoreline held for over 12 minutes in the second, but the Barber Poles were forced to kill a penalty after a review. The Bulldogs swiftly took advantage, and Jake O’Brien extended Brantford’s lead to two.
Toward the end of the frame, the 67’s started a two-on-two rush. Nic Whitehead made a smart pass across the ice to Nathan Amidovski, who got away from the player watching him, and deposited his third goal of the season into the net, past Ryerson Leenders, cutting the deficit to one.
Two minutes later, the 67’s kept pushing. Cooper Foster won an offensive-zone faceoff back to Matthew Mayich, who took his time to send a shot on goal. On its way, Foster deflected the puck into the twine, tying the game.
With time draining off the clock, the Barber Poles pulled out in front for the first time, as Brady Stonehouse cleaned up the mess in front of the net, potting his fifth goal of the year.
The lead didn’t last long, however, as Lucas Moore pounced on his chance less than two minutes later, adding some more spice to the game.
In overtime, Hamara sent the home fans home happy, sealing the deal on a 4-3 win for the Bulldogs
