GAME PREVIEW: 67’s to defend the fort against Attack
OTTAWA, ON – Fresh off of securing their spot in the OHL playoffs, the Ottawa 67’s (36-10-1-2) will look to push for first in the league as they take on the Owen Sound Attack (20-25-2-3) at the arena at TD Place on Sunday at 3 p.m, presented by Celebright. Fans can also tune in to the game on Rogers TV Channel 22, via Flo Hockey, or listen to TSN 1200 for play-by-play from Kenny Walls.
This game should prove to be a meaningful game for many reasons. Alongside the chance to potentially jump to first in the OHL, the game is also coach Dave Cameron’s 1000th behind the bench in the league as head coach. Additionally, the matchup will see Buffalo Sabres prospect and 67’s blueliner David Bedkowski face off against his former team for the first time since being dealt to Ottawa. Bedkowski joined the 67’s at the trade deadline after captaining the Attack. Meanwhile, Cooper Foster–who is fresh off a three-point night–is looking to chase a career high in points. Foster, who leads the Barber Poles in points with 50, sits just three points away from tying his personal best of 53, as well as just five away from his 200th career point.
Owen Sound’s offense is spearheaded by Pierce Mbuyi, who leads the team with 55 points, including 15 power-play goals. The team also boasts brothers Tristan and Max Delisle. Tristan has been a breakout star for the team, with 25 goals and 46 points this season, while Max is breaking ground in his rookie season, with 12 points over 39 games, after his fifth overall selection in the OHL draft last summer.
Both teams have faced off just once this season, with the Attack picking up a tight 2-1 win over the 67’s, thanks to a two-point performance from Noah Roberts. Since then, the Attack have been in free-fall, winning just two of their last 10 games after they committed to a rebuild at the trade deadline.
Capital connections:
The Owen Sound Attack roster only has one player with connections to the National Capital Region in Nepean-native and Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Harry Nansi.
Fans attending in person will have access to the Fan First Menu, featuring various snacks and treats for $3 to $5.
