3 Players to Watch
The 67’s host a pair of games this weekend, including an inter-league contest against Les Olympiques. Here’s who you need to watch.
Michael DiPietro – Ottawa 67’s
The newest member of the Ottawa 67’s is definitely one to watch. DiPietro will be making his home debut for the Barber Poles and the 19 year old has been having a career year despite coming off a team that was middle of the pack. Mikey is having career best numbers in SV% with 0.920 and GAA with 2.32. Saturday will be your only chance to catch the netminder as he will be leaving Sunday morning to head to Victoria, B.C for Team Canada World Junior Selection camp. On his way there he’ll be flying past Vancouver, home of the Canucks and the team that recently signed him to an entry-level contract.
Shawn Boudrias – Gatineau Olympiques
Boudrias leads Les Olympiques in scoring with 30 points in 20 games. The 19 year has evenly distributed his points between goals and assists with 15 apiece. The right winger recently played his 200 game in the QMJHL and his a towering force at 6’5″. After going undrafted in 2017 Boudrias attended Boston Bruins camp but elected to re-enter the draft this past year and was a sixth round selection of the Minnesota Wild and attended camp with 67’s forward Sam Bitten.
Hunter Jones – Peterborough Petes
A completely different player from last year, Hunter Jones’ numbers have improved drastically since his rookie campaign. In 2017-18 the netminder played in only 15 games and had a GAA of 5.14 and a SV% of 0.866. So far in 2018-19 Hunter has played in nearly twice as many games with 27 and put up a GAA of 2.66 and a SV% of 0.923. His fantastic start earned him a spot with Team OHL in the Canada Russia series and has him as the second ranked goalie in the 2019 NHL draft by ISS Scouting.
