Titan score early and often in win over Huskies
ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan got back in the win column after defeating the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies on the road Saturday night in Quebec. The Titan finished the night with an 11-2 blowout victory over Rouyn-Noranda at Arena Glencore.
The Titan scored early and often in the first period to take a quick 3-0 lead over the home team in the first 20 minutes. Bennett MacArthur scored a pair of goals in the period and defenceman Harijs Brants netted the second goal of the night at 3:26. Rouyn-Noranda scored one goal in the first period with about 30 seconds left to make it 3-1.
In the second period the Titan went on to score three more goals – a pair from Marc-Andre Gaudet and one from Ben Allison – while the Huskies netted their second and final goal of the evening from Mathis Perron. Acadie-Bathurst closed the first 40 minutes with a 6-2 lead over the Huskies and outshot the home team 27-14.
Felix Lafrance opened the final frame with the visitors seventh goal of the night to continue the blowout over Rouyn-Noranda. Miguel Tourigny and Jacob Melanson netted the eighth and ninth, before Lafrance scored back-to-back goals to complete the hat trick.
The Titan outshot the home team 37-21 and went 4-for-7 on the powerplay. Rouyn-Noranda couldn’t score on any of their five power play chances. Seven Acadie-Bathurst players finished the night with multi-point performances. Riley Kidney had five points, MacArthur and Lafrance had four each, Melanson and Gaudet had three while Hendrix Lapierre and Cole Larkin had two apiece.
Acadie-Bathurst will meet-up with the Val-d’Or Foreurs on Sunday in their final game of a four-game road swing through Quebec. The Titan beat Drummondville 4-3 in overtime Tuesday and lost 3-2 to Gatineau on Thursday.
