Titan outshoots Foreurs but fall in overtime
The Acadie-Bathurst Titan began their longest road trip of the season Friday night in Val-d’Or, QC and despite out-shooting the Foreurs by a 44 to 26 margin, fell in overtime by a three-to-two score.
The Foreurs opened the scoring inside the first minute of play after Alexis Pépin beat Titan starter Anthony Dumont-Bouchard for the lone goal of the first period.
The Titan would answer back with two goals in just over four minutes – both on the power play in the second period. Jordan Maher would mark his 15th goal of the season to tie the game at one with assists going to Antoine Morand and Christophe Boivin before Daniil Miromanov scored his 11th on the year giving the Titan the lead. Morand and Félix Boivin assisted on the go-ahead goal to put the Titan up 2-1 after 40 minutes.
The Foreurs would tie the game up early in the third period after Simon Lafrance found the back of the net on a breakaway. Despite a number of chances and a late power play, the Titan were forced to settle for extra time.
In extra time, a late power play for the Foreurs resulted in the game-winning goal off the stick of Mathieu Nadeau giving the home side the 3-2 victory.
Dumont-Bouchard made 23 saves on 26 shots but saw his record fall to 11-7 in defeat. Etienne Montpetit, who missed the first meeting of the season against the Titan, stopped 45 of 47 shots to improve his record to 12-11 on the year.

In his final game before the 2017 Sherwin-Williams CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, Antoine Morand recorded two assists and finished with five shots on net. Morand sits two points shy of the 100 mark, which would also give him 50 points in consecutive seasons.
Christophe Boivin recorded his 100th assist in the QMJHL in his 234th QMJHL game. The assist moves him within one of tying Jonathan Ferland for 10th all-time in a Titan uniform for assists and moves him into sole possession for games played by a Titan.

The Titan’s road trip continues Saturday night in Rouyn-Noranda, QC at the Iamgold Arena when the Titan tangle with a Huskies squad looking for revenge for a shocking defeat suffered at the hands of the Titan back in October.
