Berube backstops Titan to win over Oceanic with 43 saves
RIMOUSKI – The Acadie-Bathurst Titan battled the Rimouski Oceanic for the first time this season in what was also the first back of a back-to-back between the two teams Friday night.
Rimouski’s potent offence got going early with the games first goal 3:15 into action. Maxime Collin’s second of the season made it 1-0. However, Remy Anglehart roofed his 22nd just 43 seconds later to tie the game at one goal apiece. A little under two minutes after the equalizer, Bennett MacArthur came in alone and beat Colten Ellis to give the Titan a 2-1 lead. It was a short lived lead as Christopher Inniss evened the game back up at 7:01. With 59 seconds to play in the opening 20 minutes Justin Bergeron would find the back of the net putting the Oceanic ahead 3-2 after one.
The Titan weren’t done though. Olivier Coulombe received a pass from David Doucet and fired his fifth of the campaign past Ellis to knot things up 3-3. With the assist, Doucet picked up his first point with the Titan. Late in the period Riley Kidney found himself on a breakaway following a big 5-on-3 penalty kill and he found the back of the net for the fourth time this season to make it 4-3 for the visitors. Logan Chisholm had the lone helper on what would end up being the game winner as Acadie-Bathurst got past the Oceanic 4-3. A big reason for that was Tristan Berube’s 43 saves which earned him first star of the game. Kidney was named second star with one goal and one assist.
