Alumni Profile: Noah Dobson
Noah Dobson is a household name in Acadie-Bathurst Titan territory and one of the city’s favourite hockey sons. He is also quickly becoming a staple name in the National Hockey League.
The blue-liner from Prince Edward Island was drafted sixth overall in the first round by the Titan during the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft, before suiting-up with Acadie-Bathurst during the 2016-17 regular season. In his rookie year, Dobson netted seven goals and 19 assists in 63 games for 26 points. He had five assists in 11 playoff games in 2017. The following year he more than doubled those totals, with 17 goals and 52 assists for 69 points in 67 regular season games. During the 2018 playoffs he would score three goals and 10 assists in 20 games to help the Titan win their second President Cup team history and hoist their first Memorial Cup.
On the heels of winning the most coveted trophy in junior hockey (and accomplishing it as the smallest market team in the Canadian Hockey League) Dobson was drafted 12th overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the New York Islanders. No other Titan player in the organization’s history has been drafted as highly by an NHL franchise.
Dobson was named captain of the Titan ahead of the 2018-19 season, with whom he played until he was traded to Rouyn-Noranda during the winter trade period. Dobson would then go on to win his second President Cup and Memorial Cup trophies with the Huskies in 2019. Dobson has competed for the New York Islanders since 2019 and is now in his fourth season wearing the orange and blue.
