4 Things to Watch: Titan vs. Eagles, night one
The JAM Line – Maher-Kerr-Simpson
The JAM line composed of Jordan Maher, Aaron Kerr and Mark Simpson had a strong outing during their last game against the Saint John Sea Dogs. The line was fired up pocketing an impressive total of four goals and eight assists. Their contribution helped lead the Titan to victory. In addition to his two goals and three assists, Mark Simpson earned the first star of the game. Truly, the ascension of these young men is continuing.
The Titan will be counting on this line in order to overcome the Screaming Eagles.
The new goaltending duo
The new goaltending tandem will be on display this weekend. Daniel Vautour and Reilly Pickard are two hungry young players and bring a breath of fresh air to our regional team.
Vautour has had particularly flamboyant games in his debut with the Titan, earning his team three wins in six games. He posted a .913 save percentage over those six games, on no less than 149 shots against. Daniel will be counted on to offer similar performances worthy of his talent in order to help his team in the playoff hunt. With Pickard, it will be interesting to have the opportunity to watch him in action, as he is widely heralded as one of the top goaltenders in the country in his age group.
New additions on defense
The acquisitions of Alexandre Leclerc and Guillaume Vien will certainly help the Titan in preventing opposing players from occupying the crease area. Leclerc, with his imposing stature (6 feet 4, 225 pounds), is not afraid to lay down the lumber on a opponent or rub them against the boards, and will bring a steadying veteran presence. Vien is a defensive defenseman who certainly is not afraid of adversity. For instance, he finished his first game in a Titan uniform with a differential of +3. Expect to them to be very active on the blue line, and with Nicolas Dumulong, to keep terrorizing opposing forwards.
The double header
The two next games can easily be called the two most important games of the season for the Titan. Indeed, they represent, to use hockey slang, “a pair of four point games”. Cape Breton are currently one spot ahead of the Titan in the standings. However, the total difference in points is minimal, since the Titan stand at 31 points while the Screaming Eagles have 33.
Therefore, this means that with a sweep, the Titan would skip ahead of the Screaming Eagles by two points. By splitting the series, Titan would maintain the current ‘’status quo’’ and should they lose both
