Sherbrooke Acquires Cameron Darcy
Sherbrooke Phoenix general manager Patrick Charbonneau has acquired forward Cameron Darcy from the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2017.
Last season, the centre collected an impressive total of 82 points in 65 games, finishing 9th in scoring in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL). “Cameron’s offensive skills will surely be an asset to our team. Thanks to his excellent season last year, he was drafted in the seventh-round by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the last National Hockey League draft,” explained Charbonneau.
Since his return from the Tampa Bay Lightning training camp, the 20-year-old has tallied only 14 points in 19 games. “Cameron has had a difficult start so far but we are persuaded that this change of scenery will help him find his game and help our team win more games,” mentioned the Sherbrooke Phoenix’s hockey boss.
With the acquisition of Cameron Darcy, the Sherbrooke Phoenix now has four 20-year-old players in its lineup. The Boston-born forward joins Aaron Hoyles, Raphaël Lafontaine and Charles-Éric Légaré who are also playing their last season in the QMJHL. “We will make a decision regarding our 20-year-old players within the next few weeks because Charles-Éric Légaré was injured in Wednesday night’s game against the Rimouski Oceanic,” concluded Charbonneau.
