Levesque sidelined indefinitely, Crosby out again
2023-11-16
The Halifax Mooseheads roster took a hit this week, following their eighth consecutive victory on Sunday afternoon. Forwards Lou Levesque and Logan Crosby are both out of action after landing on the injured list.
Levesque is out indefinitely with an upper body injury and is expected to miss a significant amount of time. He left Sunday’s win over Cape Breton in the third period after a hit in the neutral zone and did not return. The 17-year-old was off to a terrific start to his QMJHL career and is among the league’s rookie scoring leaders with nine goals, 10 assists and 19 points in 21 games played. There is no timetable for his return.
Crosby is listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury and was also hurt in Sunday’s victory. The NHL Draft eligible forward from Salt Springs, NS has had some bad luck with injuries this season and was appearing in just his second game back since an 11-game absence due to an upper body injury suffered in Baie-Comeau on October 10th. He has produced nearly a point per-game in his 10 games played this season with four goals and five assists for nine points.
No corresponding call-ups have been made and the team is expected to ice a lineup featuring 11 forwards and seven defencemen for the time being.
The Mooseheads (16-4-1) remain at #1 in this week’s CHL Top 10 Rankings and will play a pair of games on the road this weekend. They take their league-best hot streak to Charlottetown on Friday to face off with the Islanders at 7:30pm before travelling to Acadie-Bathurst to meet the Titan on Saturday at 7pm.
The next home game for Halifax is coming up on Thursday, November 23rd at 7pm when the Moose will host Baie-Comeau in a showdown of the QMJHL’s two top teams. Thursdays are Student Nights in Moose Country with tunes by DJ Codak and $10 tickets for students! Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster.ca
