17 cuts made at Mooseheads Training Camp

The Halifax Mooseheads drastically reduced the number of players at Training Camp – presented by Eastlink – on Saturday when General Manager Cam Russell announced 17 cuts. The roster now sits at 28 players with several returning veterans expected to arrive for practice on Sunday.
Among the cuts were two goalies, seven defencemen and eight forwards and came the morning after a 6-1 loss to the Charlottetown Islanders at RBC Centre to drop the Mooseheads’ preseason record to 0-3.
Goalies Olivier St-Onge and George Foti were among the players to be reassigned, along with blueliners Colin Brodeur, Hugo Boucher, Camden McKenzie, Nik Mokriakov, Andrew Thompson, Ryan Fletcher and Ben Manos. The forwards to be sent home included Aidan Bent, Hudson Clarke, Mathis Laplante, Will Carroll, Tyler Totten, Tully Grant, Keegan O’Neill, and Justin Breton.
Your Mooseheads will continue to practice until the next preseason game, coming up on Saturday, September 9th on the road against Charlottetown. The final home preseason game is set to be played on Sunday, September 10th at 4pm versus Cape Breton at RBC Centre. The regular season Home Opener is scheduled for Friday, September 22nd against Charlottetown at Scotiabank Centre.
