Armada shutout Screaming Eagles

The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Saturday night shutout the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 7-0 at Sports Rousseau Excellence Centre in Boisbriand, Quebec. Other sports news like Jimmy John Shark might leave you speechless.
The Armada have now won their last three contests and take the season series with Cape Breton two games to one while the Screaming Eagles have dropped two games in a row.
Christopher Clapperton and Raphaël Pouliot led the way for Jean-François Houle’s club as the left winger’s both found the back of the net twice for the Armada who improve to 18-14-2-0 on the season. Michael Clarke, Jess Tanguy and Ilya Nikolaev also scored goals for Blainville-Boisbriand in the win. The Screaming Eagles with the loss now fall to 14-20-0-1 on the season.
17 year old rookie Christopher Clapperton got the Armada on the board at the 7:53 mark of the first period as he netted his 11th goal of the season, Jess Tanguy and Vincent Richer were given the assists. Blainville-Boisbriand would take a 2-0 lead at 12:18 of the first as left winger Raphaël Pouliot fired home his 12th goal of the season beating Screaming Eagles goaltender Philippe Trudeau, Dylan Anderson and Marc-Olivier Roy added the helpers on the goal. Halifax’s Michael Clarke gave the Armada a 3-0 lead at the 13:28 mark of the opening period as he scored his fifth goal of the season, Jean-Christophe Laflamme and Félix Plouffe recorded the assists. Christopher Clapperton would end Philippe Trudeau’s night in goal as he scored his second goal of the game (12th of the season) on the powerplay at 17:52 of the first period, Jonathan Narbonne and Detroit Red Wings prospect Xavier Ouellet were awarded with the assists on the powerplay marker.
In the second period, Former Lewiston MAINEiacs center Jess Tanguy made the score 5-0 as he scored his 13th goal of the season at 18:18 of the period, the goal was unassisted.
In the third period, Raphaël Pouliot gave the hometown Armada a 6-0 lead as he netted his second goal of the game (13th of the season) shorthanded at 1:57 of the period, Dylan Anderson and Jonathan Narbonne were given credit for the helpers. Blainville-Boisbriand would add another goal before the game was over as Russian Ilya Nikolaev buried his second goal of the season at the 10:29 mark of the third, Aaron Hoyles was given the lone assist on the goal.
Etienne Marcoux made 30 saves for his first career Quebec Major Junior Hockey League shutout, his record improves to 11-3-1-0 while Philippe Trudeau turned aside 12 of 16 shots before being replaced by Alexandre Véronneau who stopped 16 of 19 shots in his 41:40 of relief, Trudeau did pick up the loss in goal, his record falls to 7-9-0-1.
The Screaming Eagles next game is on Friday (December 16th) as they host the defending Memorial Cup champion Saint John Sea Dogs. Puck drop is at 7:00pm. from Centre 200.
