Calgary, Alta. \u2013<\/strong> The Western Hockey League announced today Everett Silvertips Head Coach Steve Hamilton has been awarded the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy as WHL Coach of the Year for the 2025-26 WHL Regular Season.<\/p>\n

Having spent 12 seasons as a WHL head coach, this represents the first time Hamilton has been recognized as WHL Coach of the Year. Hamilton previously served as Head Coach of the Calgary Hitmen (2018-19 to 2023-24) and Edmonton Oil Kings (2014-15 to 2017-18).<\/p>\n

In two seasons at the helm of the Silvertips, Hamilton has guided the Club to back-to-back Scotty Munro Memorial Trophies as WHL Regular Season champions. In 2025-26, Hamilton\u2019s squad finished with a record 57-8-2-1, representing the best season in Silvertips franchise history. Everett\u2019s 57-win, 117-point campaign \u2013 achieved in 68 games \u2013 surpassed the previous best set by the franchise during the 2006-07 season when they went 54-15-1-2 for 111 points over a 72-game schedule.<\/p>\n

Not only did Hamilton\u2019s Silvertips rack up the wins, but they also did 96.5 per cent of that damage in regulation, claiming 55 regulation victories.<\/p>\n

Under Hamilton, the Silvertips were the third highest scoring team this season, registering 304 goals for (4.47 goals for per game), while allowing a paltry 173 goals against (2.54 goals against) to finish second in the WHL.<\/p>\n

The Silvertips power play finished the regular season fourth best in the WHL, with a conversion rate of 30.0 per cent, while Everett\u2019s penalty kill was successful in denying 80.2 per cent of opportunities for opponents to finish fourth in the WHL.<\/p>\n

From January 17, 2026, through February 14, 2026, the Silvertips strung together a 13-game winning streak \u2013 the third best run in the WHL this season. At no point in the campaign did Everett lose two games in a row.<\/p>\n

Everett boasted the best road record in the WHL this season, going 29-5-0-0. Unsurprisingly, the Club finished tied with the Medicine Hat Tigers for the League\u2019s best home record, going 28-3-2-1.<\/p>\n

Under Hamilton\u2019s watch, a number of players enjoyed quality campaigns, including 16-year-old defenceman Landon DuPont, who was named to the WHL Western Conference First All-Star Team, and Anaheim Ducks prospect Tarin Smith, Seattle Kraken prospect Julius Miettinen, and Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear, who were all named to the WHL Western Conference Second All-Star Team.<\/p>\n

2026 NHL Draft-eligible forward Matias Vanhanen was named a finalist for two WHL Awards \u2013 WHL Rookie of the Year and WHL Most Sportsmanlike Player.<\/p>\n

DuPont is also a finalist for the Bill Hunter Memorial Trophy, presented annually to the WHL Defenceman of the Year, while goaltender Raiden LeGall was recognized for his off-ice contributions as a finalist for WHL Humanitarian of the Year.<\/p>\n

Hamilton is the first Everett head coach to win the Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy since Kevin Constantine was honoured in 2003-04 \u2013 the Club\u2019s expansion season.<\/p>\n

The Dunc McCallum Memorial Trophy honours the memory of Dunc McCallum, who was named WHL Coach of the Year twice while turning the Brandon Wheat Kings into a formidable powerhouse of the 1970s, culminating in a WHL Championship win and Memorial Cup Final appearance in 1979.<\/p>\n

From 1976 to 1981, McCallum massed an impressive regular season record of 251-123-41 behind the Brandon bench.<\/p>\n

The WHL Coach of the Year Award is voted upon by WHL General Managers and members of the media.<\/p>\n

Calgary, Alta. \u2013 <\/strong>Medicine Hat Tigers forward Markus Ruck<\/a> has captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the 2025-26 WHL Top Scorer.<\/p>\n

The 18-year-old from Osoyoos, B.C., paced the league with 21 goals and 87 assists for 108 points and a plus-45 rating in 68 games.<\/p>\n

Ruck\u2019s twin brother, Liam, finished in a close second place with 104 points (45G-59A).<\/p>\n

The 6-foot, 167-pound centreman was only held off the scoresheet 12 times, while recording three or more points on 11 occasions, highlighted by a one-goal, four-assist effort in a 10-4 win over the Edmonton Oil Kings on February 24, 2026.<\/p>\n

Ruck has also embarked on two point streaks that lasted 10 or more games, including a 13-game run that lasted from November 22, 2025, to December 30, 2025 (3G-22A).<\/p>\n

His creative play helped Medicine Hat reign as the highest scoring team in the league (348G) while boasting the WHL’s top power play (32.2%) and finishing atop the Central Division with the club’s first 50-win season since 2016-17.<\/p>\n

Ruck was named an alternate captain for Team East at the 2026 WHL Prospects Game presented by Showpass, where he bagged two assists (including the primary helper on Daxon Rudolph’s overtime winner) while going 10-for-18 at the faceoff dot.<\/p>\n

Originally selected by Medicine Hat with the 21st<\/sup> overall pick in the first round of the 2023 WHL Prospects Draft, Ruck has tallied 29 goals and 108 assists for 137 points in 132 games over parts of three seasons.<\/p>\n

He also chipped in four points (1G-3A) in 14 outings in the 2025 WHL Playoffs, which saw the Tigers defeat the Spokane Chiefs in five games to claim the Ed Chynoweth Cup.<\/p>\n

This marks the fourth time a Tigers skater has earned the Bob Clarke Trophy, following Linden Vey (2010-11) and Tom Lysiak (1972-73, 1971-72).<\/p>\n

NHL Central Scouting has ranked Ruck 23rd among all North American skaters in its final rankings ahead of the 2026 NHL Draft.<\/p>\n

Ruck will look to add to the trophy case as the Tigers prepare to defend their 2025 WHL Championship.<\/p>\n

After hoisting the Ed Chynoweth Cup last spring and reaching the Memorial Cup Final, Medicine Hat has tied the Kamloops Blazers as the clubs with the most league championships, with six apiece.<\/p>\n

The Bob Clarke Trophy, named for the WHL and NHL legend, is awarded annually to the WHL\u2019s Top Scorer.<\/p>\n

The Hockey Hall-of-Famer played two seasons in the WHL, capturing the WHL scoring title in both campaigns before graduating to a career with the Philadelphia Flyers that spanned more than 1,000 games, two Stanley Cup championships and three Hart Trophy wins for Most Valuable Player, among other awards.<\/p>\n

The 1967-68 WHL season saw Clarke collect an astounding 168 points (51G-117A) in 59 appearances.<\/p>\n

During the 1968-69 season, Clarke registered 137 points (51G-86A) in only 58 games as he helped his hometown Flin Flon Bombers claim the 1969 WHL Championship.<\/p>\n

Facing a must-win outing at home, Penticton opened the scoring for a third-straight game, this time, with captain Nolan Stevenson unleashing a one-timer on the man advantage. Everett got a fortuitous bounce off of Brek Liske to tie the game briefly, but New York Islanders prospect Jacob Kvasnicka put his side back on top with his eighth tally of the playoffs just over a minute later. The Silvertips rattled off a trio of third-period goals to pull off the win, starting with a crash-bang effort from Jesse Heslop. Matias Vanhanen gave the Tips their first lead of the night with a precision tip off a Liske shot, which would stand as the series-winner. Top 2026 NHL Draft Prospect Daxon Rudolph quieted a voracious crowd at Co-op Place as he swatted his own rebound past Jordan Switzer for his sixth strike of the postseason. The Raiders carried a 1-0 lead in the second period while surviving a pair of early Tigers powerplays, but Kade Stengrim capitalized on the man advantage with a long wrister. Michal Orsulak (NHL CSS: 2) and Switzer denied skaters golden opportunities time and time again as the clock ticked down to zero.
