Everett Silvertips clinch spot in 2024 WHL Playoffs
The Everett Silvertips are bringing their balanced attack and head-turning rookies to the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
With a 36-18-2-2 record and 75 points, Everett qualified by nature of a 6-4 Tri-City Americans loss to the Spokane Chiefs, though the Silvertips also earned a point in a 4-3 overtime loss against the Seattle Thunderbirds just minutes later.
More than 8000 fans packed Angel of the Winds Arena to watch the Silvertips score three unanswered goals to complete the playoff-clinching comeback.
Vegas Golden Knights prospect Ben Hemmerling and Nashville Predators draft pick Austin Roest have split co-captain duties this season, setting the example as their teammates score droves of goals by committee.
Six Everett players have hit the 20-goal mark so far, including standout first-year players Carter Bear (23 goals, 27 assists) and 2024 NHL Draft top prospect Julius Miettinen (22 goals, 24 assists), who has been recognized as Kal Tire WHL Rookie of the Week twice.
Everett also set a franchise record with three shorthanded goals in a 6-2 victory over Vancouver on November 11, 2023.
The Silvertips have been jockeying with Portland for the top of the U.S. Division all season. An impressive 11-game point streak in January helped vault Everett into the CHL’s Top 10 Rankings for the first time this season.
The Silvertips have never missed the playoffs since joining the league back in 2003, making the WHL final twice but falling just short of the ultimate goal.
