Blades acquire Morozoff from Thunderbirds
The Saskatoon Blades have acquired 18-year-old forward Alex Morozoff from Seattle Thunderbirds.
In exchange, the Thunderbirds have acquired a sixth-round selection in the 2023 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.
“Alex and his family are currently dealing with a family medical issue,” said Thunderbirds general manager Bil La Forge. “We have made this trade to help get Alex closer to his family in Saskatoon. Alex has been a good player for us in his time here and we wish him and his family all the best in this difficult time for them.”
The 6-foot-0, 189-pound Morozoff is a product of Saskatoon, Sask. He was acquired by the Thunderbirds prior to the start of the 2019-20 WHL Regular Season and had recorded five points (4G-1A) in 22 games.
“We’re pleased to add Alex to the Blades organization, he’s a good local player who can play both centre and on the wing” said Blades general manager Colin Priestner. “As Alex is only 18, he fits nicely into the structure of our team age-wise.
“We look forward to having him join the team on Wednesday.”
Morozoff was originally chosen by the Red Deer Rebels in the seventh round, 149th overall, of the 2016 WHL Bantam Draft. In 116 WHL regular season games between the Rebels and Thunderbirds, Morozoff has recorded 28 points (18G-10A), including four power-play goals and three game-winning goals.
He’s also appeared in seven WHL playoff games with the Rebels, recording one assist.
