2025-26 CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott: Week 16
The Canadian Hockey League (CHL) today unveiled its Week 16 edition of the CHL Top-10 Rankings presented by Delta Hotels by Marriott for the 2025-26 season.
The Chicoutimi Saguenéens (28-6-3-2) held No. 1 for a second straight week after a perfect 2-0-0-0 showing that featured back-to-back 4-1 home wins and an 8-2 aggregate margin, with their league-leading defensive profile highlighted by a CHL-low 96 goals against and standout goaltending from Raphaël Précourt. Right behind them, the Everett Silvertips (31-5-2-1) stayed put at No. 2 for the second week in a row after sweeping a pair in Prince George, continuing a seven-week run of never dipping below second while remaining the CHL’s lone 30-win club and among the league’s stingiest teams defensively. Rounding out the top three, the Brantford Bulldogs (28-7-4-1) climbed back into No. 3 on the strength of three straight wins—including road statements over the defending Memorial Cup champion London Knights and the previously ranked Windsor Spitfires—powered by Minnesota Wild prospect Adam Benák’s six-point week as Brantford’s depth and returning World Juniors contingent helped drive a timely surge.
Further down the list, several surging clubs continued to make noise with upward movement and historic streaks. The Moncton Wildcats (28-7-2-1) climbed for a second consecutive week to No. 6 after a dominant 2-0-0-0 stretch in which they outscored opponents 16-2, extending their torrid run to 17 wins in their last 19 games ahead of a marquee showdown versus No. 1 Chicoutimi. The Medicine Hat Tigers (29-6-3-2) also rose for a second straight week to No. 7 after pushing their win streak to 17 games—tying a franchise record—and continuing a CHL-best 21-game point streak, all while captain Bryce Pickford (32 goals in 38 games) remains on a record-setting pace that could threaten both WHL and CHL single-season goal marks for a defenceman. And making the biggest “new face” splash, the Penticton Vees (24-9-4-3) broke into the CHL Top 10 for the first time in franchise history at No. 10, riding a nine-game win streak and a 13-1-1-0 run since early December behind New York Islanders prospect Jacob Kvasnicka’s explosive 10-point week.

CHL Top-10 Rankings – Week 16
1. Chicoutimi Saguenéens (QMJHL): After going a perfect 2-0-0-0 over the last seven days, the Chicoutimi Saguenéens (28-6-3-2) are back at No. 1 in the CHL Top-10 Rankings for a second straight week, continuing to separate themselves with a defence-first identity. Chicoutimi earned its spotless week by a combined 8-2 margin, taking identical 4-1 home wins over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar and Victoriaville Tigres, while allowing two goals or fewer in eight of its last 11 games (10 wins over that span). The Saguenéens have surrendered just 96 goals this season—fewest in the QMJHL and CHL—and their 2.46 goals-against per game ranks second CHL-wide, led by goaltender Raphaël Précourt, who stopped 41 of 43 shots in his two starts last week and continues to pace the CHL with five shutouts while owning a QMJHL-best 2.21 GAA and 21 wins. Chicoutimi also welcomed back key World Juniors returnees, including Denmark captain Anton Linde (6G-9A in 28 GP), who made an immediate impact in his return by posting two goals and an assist versus Victoriaville. The test only gets tougher this week as the Saguenéens head east for games in Halifax, Charlottetown, and Moncton—culminating in a marquee Saturday showdown against the No. 6-ranked Wildcats in a battle of the QMJHL’s top two clubs.
Games this week: @ Halifax (Jan. 15), @ Charlottetown (Jan. 16), @ Moncton (Jan. 17)
2. Everett Silvertips (WHL): After earning a pair of road wins in Prince George by 4-1 and 6-4 scorelines, the Everett Silvertips (31-5-2-1) are back at No. 2 in the CHL Top-10 Rankings for a second straight week, continuing a dominant stretch that has seen them sit among the CHL’s top two teams for the last seven weeks without ever dropping below second. Everett remains the CHL’s lone 30-win club in 2025-26—its CHL-best 31 victories underscoring a steady, two-way identity highlighted by a WHL-low 98 goals against through 39 games and a 2.51 goals-against average that ranks third across the CHL, while the Silvertips have gone 11-2-0-0 over their last 13 contests dating back to early December. Offensively, Detroit Red Wings prospect Carter Bear (14G-17A in 25 GP) made an immediate impact upon returning from a bronze medal with Canada at the 2026 World Juniors, leading the club with four points across the two wins over the Cougars while extending his run to points in nine of his last 10 games. Meanwhile, 2027 NHL Draft prospect and reigning CHL Rookie of the Year Landon DuPont (10G-22A in 34 GP) stayed red-hot as well, stretching his point streak to four games and scoring again—giving him seven goals in his last eight outings. The Silvertips now return home to open a six-game homestand, beginning a busy stretch that includes matchups against Moose Jaw, Spokane, and Vancouver in the coming days.
Games this week: vs. Moose Jaw (Jan. 14), vs. Spokane (Jan. 16), vs. Vancouver (Jan. 17)
3. Brantford Bulldogs (OHL): After stringing together three straight wins over the last week, the Brantford Bulldogs (28-7-4-1) are back among the CHL’s top three, checking in at No. 3 in this week’s rankings. The Bulldogs rebounded in a big way with a 4-2 home win over the Niagara IceDogs before earning statement road victories over the reigning Memorial Cup champion London Knights (4-1) and the previously ranked Windsor Spitfires (7-3), a surge that marks their first winning streak since Dec. 11—a stretch that coincided with seven players leaving for World Juniors camp. Brantford’s World Juniors presence was felt across the tournament, as the Bulldogs led all CHL clubs with five participants—Vladimír Dravecký, Adam Jiříček, and Adam Benák with Czechia, along with Jett Luchanko and Ben Danford with Canada —and all five returned with medals, including bronze for the Canadian duo and silver for the Czech trio. Fresh off that run, Minnesota Wild prospect Adam Benák (19G-30A in 29 GP) made an immediate impact by leading the Bulldogs with six points (4G-2A) across the three wins, highlighted by his first OHL hat trick in a four-point (3G-1A) performance against Windsor, while Brantford’s depth continued to shine with key contributions from mainstays like Caleb Malhotra, Owen Protz, and Marek Vanacker alongside newcomers Charlie Paquette and Gabriel Frasca getting on the scoresheet early with their new club. Brantford will look to keep rolling this week with a busy stretch of three games in three days versus Peterborough, Kingston, and Niagara.
Games this week: vs. Peterborough (Jan. 16), vs. Kingston (Jan. 17), @ Niagara (Jan. 18)
4. Edmonton Oil Kings (WHL): After turning in a perfect 3-0-0-0 week—headlined by a statement 5-3 road win over the No. 5-ranked Prince Albert Raiders—the Edmonton Oil Kings (29-7-3-1) have climbed the CHL Top-10 Rankings for a second straight week, jumping up to No. 4. Edmonton backed up that marquee result with additional road victories over the Swift Current Broncos (6-4) and Saskatoon Blades (3-1), extending its point streak to nine games (8-0-1-0) while continuing to sit among the CHL’s elite as one of five teams with at least 29 wins in 2025-26. The Oil Kings were driven by a monster week from captain Gavin Hodnett (5G-17A in 16 GP), who paced the club with six points (1G-5A) and has been on a tear since returning from the holiday break with 17 points (3G-14A) over his last eight games, including six multi-point outings. Toronto Maple Leafs prospect Miroslav Holinka (26G-34A in 37 GP) also stayed scorching, extending his point streak to 11 games while ranking among the WHL’s top-five in goals (26, 5th) and points (60, T-3rd). He’s also tied for the league lead in shorthanded goals (3) and game-winning goals (7), and his 12 goals since December 14 are tied for the most among WHL skaters in that span. The Oil Kings now brace for another major test in a home-and-home series against the No. 7-ranked Medicine Hat Tigers before returning home to face the Tri-City Americans.
Games this week: vs. Medicine Hat (Jan. 14), @ Medicine Hat (Jan. 16), vs. Tri-City (Jan. 17)
5. Prince Albert Raiders (WHL): After splitting their two games over the last week, the Prince Albert Raiders (28-6-4-0) slipped a couple of spots to No. 5 in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. The Raiders opened with a strong 6-1 home win over the Swift Current Broncos, but couldn’t complete the perfect week as the No. 4-ranked Edmonton Oil Kings skated out of the Art Hauser Centre with a 5-3 victory the following night. Even with the setback, Prince Albert remains firmly among the CHL’s elite, holding a top-five position for nine straight weeks, while that loss to Edmonton marked just their second regulation defeat over their last 13 games dating back to December 6 (11 wins in that stretch). Newly acquired Vancouver Canucks prospect Braeden Cootes (11G-14A in 19 GP) made his presence felt early—after being held off the scoresheet in his Raiders debut, the World Juniors bronze medalist responded with a goal and an assist against the Oil Kings—while San Jose Sharks prospect Max Heise (19G-16A in 34 GP) scored in both outings to extend a five-game goal streak and keep his point streak rolling. The Raiders will look to rebound this week, starting Tuesday at home versus Brandon before hitting the road for games in Lethbridge and Medicine Hat, the latter a marquee matchup against the No. 7-ranked Tigers.
Games this week: vs. Brandon (Jan. 13), @ Lethbridge (Jan. 16), @ Medicine Hat (Jan. 17)
6. Moncton Wildcats (QMJHL): For a second straight week, the Moncton Wildcats (28-7-2-1) have climbed the CHL Top-10 Rankings, moving up one spot to No. 6 after going a perfect 2-0-0-0 over the last seven days. Moncton flexed its offensive firepower in a pair of lopsided home wins, outscoring the Gatineau Olympiques and Newfoundland Regiment by a combined 16-2 with decisive 7-0 and 9-2 victories at the Avenir Centre, extending what has been one of the CHL’s hottest runs as the Wildcats have now won 17 of their last 19 games (17-1-0-1). Utah Mammoth prospect Gabe Smith (18G-26A in 34 GP) paced the attack with five points and two multi-point outings, pushing his point streak to six games and giving him points in nine of his last 10 contests, while fellow Mammoth prospect Caleb Desnoyers (8G-21A in 19 GP) returned from capturing bronze with Team Canada at the 2026 World Juniors and didn’t miss a beat, recording four points—including a three-point (2G-1A) performance against Newfoundland—while extending his 12-game point streak, the second-longest active run in the QMJHL. The Wildcats now turn the page to a marquee weekend that includes a heavyweight Saturday showdown at home versus the No. 1-ranked Chicoutimi Saguenéens, featuring a clash of the QMJHL’s top two teams, before welcoming Cape Breton the following day.
Games this week: vs. Chicoutimi (Jan. 17), vs. Cape Breton (Jan. 18)
7. Medicine Hat Tigers (WHL): Having bested the Seattle Thunderbirds (8-3) and Lethbridge Hurricanes (7-4) over the last week, the Medicine Hat Tigers (29-6-3-2) have climbed the CHL Top-10 Rankings for a second straight week after extending their winning streak to 17 games—tying the franchise record set in 2006-07—while also continuing a CHL-best 21-game point streak (19-0-1-1) and going more than two months without a regulation loss (last: Nov. 8 vs. Brandon). Now one of five CHL clubs with at least 29 wins and closing in on the 30-win mark, the Tigers have been fuelled by captain Bryce Pickford, the Montreal Canadiens prospect who was named Tempo WHL Player of the Week after piling up seven points (4G-3A) in the two wins. Pickford’s four-goal week pushed him to 32 goals, matching the Medicine Hat franchise record for goals by a defenceman originally set by Kris Russell in 2006-07—except Pickford reached the mark in just 38 games—while his 60 points (32G-28A) lead all CHL defencemen and his 32 goals lead the entire CHL. At 32 goals in 38 games (0.84 goals per game), Pickford is on pace for 56 goals over 66 games, a total that would set both WHL and CHL single-season records for a defenceman. The Tigers’ streaks will be put to a major test this week in a marquee home-and-home series against the No. 4-ranked Edmonton Oil Kings before they return to Co-op Place to host the No. 5-ranked Prince Albert Raiders.
Games this week: @ Edmonton (Jan. 14), vs. Edmonton (Jan. 16), vs. Prince Albert (Jan. 17)
8. Ottawa 67’s (OHL): After dropping two of three games over the last seven days, the Ottawa 67’s (29-9-1-2) slid four spots to No. 8 in this week’s CHL Top-10 Rankings. Ottawa opened the week with back-to-back road losses to the North Bay Battalion (4-2) and Soo Greyhounds (2-1) before salvaging things with a 6-4 win in Sudbury against the Wolves, yet they remain one of just five CHL clubs with at least 29 wins and continue to set the pace defensively across both the OHL and CHL by allowing just 2.37 goals per game. The 67’s did get a boost with the return of Finland’s Jasper Kuhta (20G-15A in 35 GP), who made an immediate impact coming back from the 2026 World Juniors by posting five points (3G-2A) in three games to extend his point streak to five, including goals in five of his last seven outings. Rookie and 2026 NHL Draft prospect Thomas Vandenberg (13G-15A in 32 GP) added three assists and has points in three of his last four games, with the Connor McDavid OHL Top Prospects Game participant also ranking as one of 19 from the CHL among the top 25 North American skaters in NHL Central Scouting’s midterm list. Ottawa now turns its attention to a rivalry renewal with the Gatineau Olympiques in a two-game interleague set on Jan. 16 at TD Place and Jan. 17 in Gatineau, before hosting the Peterborough Petes on Jan. 18.
Games this week: vs. Gatineau (Jan. 16), @ Gatineau (Jan. 17), vs. Peterborough (Jan. 18)
9. Flint Firebirds (OHL): With three straight wins under its belt over the last week, the Flint Firebirds (29-9-2-2) moved up to No. 9 in the CHL Top-10 Rankings while continuing to build momentum atop the OHL standings. Flint earned impressive victories over the Sarnia Sting (7-4), Saginaw Spirit (4-2), and Kingston Frontenacs (4-1), improving to 7-2-1-0 over its last 10 games and picking up points in eight of those contests. The Firebirds now sit first in the OHL with 62 points and an OHL-best 29 wins (tied with Ottawa), driven last week by a pair of impact performers in New York Rangers prospect Nathan Aspinall (23G-34A in 39 GP) and Winnipeg Jets prospect Kevin He (18G-21A in 34 GP), who each produced a team-high five points across the three wins. Aspinall continues to pace the OHL with 57 points, while He—acquired in late December—has made an immediate splash with eight points (4G-4A) in six games as a Firebird and found the back of the net in each of last week’s victories. Flint now heads out for the start of a four-game road trip that will take it to Barrie, Sudbury, and North Bay.
Games this week: @ Barrie (Jan. 15), @ Sudbury (Jan. 16), @ North Bay (Jan. 18)
10. Penticton Vees (WHL): Having strung together nine straight victories to surge into second place in the WHL’s Western Conference, the Penticton Vees (24-9-4-3) have cracked the CHL Top-10 Rankings for the first time in franchise history. Penticton’s nine-game heater dates back to Dec. 17 and included a perfect 4-0-0-0 week highlighted by a pair of road wins in Prince George (5-2 & 3-2) along with two victories over the Kamloops Blazers (4-2 & 5-4), while their broader run since the start of December has them among the CHL’s hottest clubs at 13-1-1-0 in their last 15 outings. Leading the charge is New York Islanders prospect Jacob Kvasnicka (22G-31A in 38 GP), who earned Sandman WHL Rookie of the Week honours after erupting for 10 points (5G-5A) in four games, extending his point streak to nine games (20 points over that span) and recording multi-point performances in six straight contests. With 53 points in 38 games, Kvasnicka ranks second in WHL and CHL rookie scoring, and the Vees will look to keep rolling this week as they head to Vancouver to face the Giants before returning home to host the Calgary Hitmen.
Games this week: @ Vancouver (Jan. 16), vs. Calgary (Jan. 17)
