VP Sports & Entertainment presents: Rockets defenceman Kettles signs entry-level contract with Penguins
Pittsburgh, Penn. – Kelowna Rockets defenceman Peyton Kettles has signed a three-year, entry-level contract with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Penguins announced the signing of Kettles on Monday morning.
Kettles, an 18-year-old product of Winnipeg, Man., was selected by the Penguins in the second round (39th overall) of the 2025 NHL Draft.
The 6-foot-6, 194-pound rearguard has seen action in five games during the 2025-26 WHL season, recording three points (1G-2A), having split time between the Swift Current Broncos and Rockets.
Originally selected by the Broncos in the first round (sixth overall) of the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft, Kettles has appeared in 121 WHL regular season games, tallying 30 points (8G-22A).
Kettles has represented Canada on the international stage, winning a gold medal at the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. He also skated for Canada Red at the 2023 U17 World Challenge.
