VP Sports & Entertainment presents: Oil Kings star Sawchyn signs entry-level deal with Florida Panthers
Edmonton Oil Kings forward Gracyn Sawchyn has inked a three-year, entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers, General Manager Bill Zito announced Monday.
“Gracyn is a talented skater with strong stick-handling skills and a high compete level,” Zito said. “We are excited to watch him continue to develop within our system.”

The 5-foot-11, 157-pound centreman is off to a roaring start in 2024-25, leading the Oil Kings with eight goals and adding 12 assists with a team-best 20 points.
He’s only been held off the scoresheet once this season and is currently riding one of the hottest scoring streaks in the league with eight goals and 11 assists amassed over 10 straight games.
Sawchyn, 19, was originally selected by Florida with the 63rd overall pick in the second round of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
The Grande Prairie, Alta. product has suited up for 124 regular season WHL games over three seasons with the Oil Kings and Seattle Thunderbirds, netting 45 goals and 97 assists for 142 points in 124 games.

He’s averaged a point per game or better every season since being selected first overall in the 2020 WHL U.S. Priority Draft.
Sawchyn also added three goals and eight assists for 11 points in 17 games to help the Thunderbirds lift the Ed Chynoweth Cup as WHL Champions in 2023.
Edmonton (7-6-1-1) travels to Medicine Hat to face fellow Panthers prospect Hunter St. Martin and the Tigers in a Central Division showdown on Friday, November 8.
